As an abstract expressionist, I simply paint by feel in the spontaneity of the moment. I rarely premeditate or plan, I just plug into the canvas and let it take me where it wants to go. My paintings are often atmospheric and untitled and lend themselves to be reinterpreted by the imagination of the viewer. I have developed numerous methods for achieving gnarly textures and am constantly intrigued by the patterns and compositions that emerge as I apply countless layers of colors and texture. Most recently, I have enjoyed integrating ingredients found in the kitchen into my paintings, such as oyster shells, barnacles, rock salt, artichoke leaves, spices, and grains.
